The BRS 3000T -Is it Worth Your Time and Dollars?

If you are looking for a fair and honest review of the BRS 3000T Ultralight Mini Stove, you’ve camped in the right place!

This handy item, or one like it, is an essential piece of gear for campers, hikers, and backpackers alike. Whether you are preparing a meal on the go, making some coffee, or simply warming chilled hands on a cool night in the great outdoors, it’s a piece of equipment you cannot do without.

The truth of the matter is that there are plenty of camp stove models out there to choose from. Selecting the one that’s just right for you is a daunting task. So, that’s why we’re stepping up to train our spotlight one of the most popular. The BRS 3000T has our attention, but is it worthy? We’ll give you the lowdown on this bestselling product, discuss its features, and dish up some pros and cons, too. Ready? Let’s fire it up!

BRS Outdoor BRS-3000T

Basic Features

The main, and perhaps most critical, feature of the BRS 3000T is the fact that it is lightweight. This stove is made of titanium and weighs in at just 25g—that’s just under an ounce. Titanium is a metal that is both stronger and lighter than steel.

Size

Another important feature is its size. Yes, it is very compact, at just 1.97” long x 1.18” wide x 1.3” high. It has 4 legs that flip up to support its body. When the legs are flipped down, the piece easily sits in the palm of your hand.

Power

Power is another important consideration for any camp stove. The BRS 3000T generates 2700 Watts, powered by gas. Or to be specific, a specific gas blend called isobutane, which is a combination of both butane and propane. This is a common mix. When butane is added to propane, it enables the gas to burn better in colder weather conditions. This stove uses a 100-gram gas canister like these.  It’s powerful enough to boil a liter of water in approximately 3 minutes.

This piece does not come with any significant bells and whistles. The distributor, a Chinese company called Hamans, does, however, include an extra O ring and a decent carrying bag. Hamans is a well-known brand with numerous outdoor gadgets offered up for consideration. It’s worth noting that most of its products have a 4-to-5-star rating, as does the BRS 3000T. There are other distributors of this camping stove model out there, but Hamans is the most recognizable. You can check out their other products here.

Price

Price, of course, is always a consideration as well. The BRS 3000T costs approximately $17.00. In a vast sea of inexpensive, small portable camping stoves, this one floats in the middle.

Pros

Here’s what we like about the BRS 3000T Camping Stove:

✔ Its size is excellent in comparison to similar models.

In many camping and hiking situations, “the smaller the better” is sage advice. This piece does not disappoint in that regard. We like the bright green carrying bag that comes with it, too. And what we like about its size most of all is that it conveniently nests neatly inside the Hamans Titanium Camping Pot. It’s a very nice quality, 750ml ultralight, portable pot/cup with a lid that makes a perfect companion piece to their stove. In our opinion, if you decide to purchase the stove, you should grab this great pot, too.

✔ Its lightweight profile is a strong plus.

Titanium, as we mentioned above, has some properties that make it superior to steel in some ways. An important one for campers and hikers is the fact that it’s significantly lighter. Weight, or in this case, the lack of it, truly matters. It should be noted, nevertheless, that titanium is not necessarily more durable than steel. Steel does typically outlast titanium but the tradeoff is a good one, especially since the price is set in a range that most people will find affordable. Frankly, if the BRS 3000T wears out, you could simply purchase another one.

✔ It is sturdy, easy to set up, and simple to use.

What point is there in making an even small investment in a piece of gear that does not meet these criteria? We like the thoughtful design of this camp stove. It sets up quickly and it is not complicated to use. It also has a 45°outward rotation flame spray, allowing for a decent-sized heating area. Plus, for an inexpensive, lightweight, and compact piece, it’s sturdy and boasts very good, if not great, pot support.

✔ It is fast and efficient.

The BRS 3000T camping stove has impressive speed, as evidenced by its boil time referenced above. It also provides very efficient fuel use. A number of satisfied users mentioned that it even performed faster and used less gas than other similar mini camp stoves that they’ve used in the past.

✔ Its price is right.

For a mere $17, this camp stove performs well and checks off our most important requirements.

Cons

The BRS 3000T’s capacity is not ideal for everyone.

This first con is not truly a negative, depending on how you intend to use the equipment. This stove is only of sufficient size to accommodate the camping stove needs of a very small group. For 1 or 2 people, it’s perfect. But if you need a camp stove that can handle a larger capacity, this one is not for you. Instead, invest in a two-burner option like the Camp Chef Everest. Yes, it’s bigger and bulkier, but it’s much more appropriate for serving 3 or more people.

It tends to leak gas when connecting.

This occurs when screwing or unscrewing the gas line. This is because the BRS 3000T doesn’t quite fully seal before the valve opens. To compensate for this, you’ll have to spin it shut quickly. One reviewer suggested that allowing a tiny amount of gas out actually seals the equipment as intended as you connect the canister. If you find this problematic, you might want to consider the Fire-Maple FMS-116T Titanium Backpacking Stove instead. The Fire-Maple is a solid, slightly more expensive upgrade that does not have this issue.

Its quality is above average but not excellent.

Some reviewers reported having difficulty regulating the flame and found it to be inconsistent at times. It is our observation that this model will serve you best when you take the time to read its user manual carefully, along with Amazon’s reviewer comments, many of which offer helpful solutions to minor issues that some less-than-savvy users might experience. In the end, you get what you pay for. If you are willing to invest a little more, don’t waste your time comparing apples to oranges. Instead, you might want to consider the GasOne GS-8300 or the highly efficient, wood-burning Solo Stove Lite.

The Verdict

If you are in the market for a decent quality camping stove with a small size and a small price to match, look no further. This highly-rated offering from Hamas is a smart, affordable choice that is well worth your time and money. The verdict? The BRS 3000T will make you a happy camper!
